Overview

Capely ("we", "us") sells Minecraft cape redemption codes. This policy explains what information we collect when you use this site or place an order, how we use it, and the choices you have. Capely is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mojang Studios or Microsoft.

Information we collect

We collect only what the store needs to work.

• Email address, so we can find your order and reach you about it if you need support.
• Order details, including the cape purchased, quantity, price paid and any discount code used.
• A Minecraft username, only if you use the skin viewer. It is sent to Mojang's public API to fetch your skin for the preview and is not stored after your session ends.
• A referral code, only if you arrived here through a shared link. This is kept in your browser's local storage for 30 days so we can see which links send visitors to the site, and is recorded with any order you place in that time. It does not identify you personally.
• Usage events, such as which pages you view and actions like opening a cape, starting the try on preview or beginning checkout. These are recorded by this site's own server, are never sent to anyone else, and are deleted after 180 days.

Our server uses your connection address to limit abusive request rates. We do not store the address itself. We store a shortened, salted hash of it alongside your order and your usage events, so that repeat activity can be recognised without identifying you. The salt changes every day, so a hash cannot be turned back into an address or matched across days. The browser and device description your browser sends with every request is also stored with your order, for fraud prevention.

How we use your information

We use the information above to process your order and issue your redemption code, to communicate with you about an order including support requests and refund eligibility, to detect and prevent fraud and abuse of discount codes, and to keep basic records required for accounting and tax purposes. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Payment processing

Payments are handled by our payment processor, not by Capely directly. When you pay, your card or account details go straight to our payment processor's systems. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed, but we never see or store your full card number, expiry date or security code.

Digital delivery

Codes are issued automatically after a successful payment and are shown to you on the order confirmation page. Because a code has value only until it is redeemed, a code that has been shown to you is treated as sold and cannot be returned. Our full policy on this is in the Terms of Service.

Data retention

We keep order records, including the email address and any referral code associated with an order, for as long as needed for accounting, fraud prevention and support, and to meet any legal recordkeeping requirements. Referral data stored in your browser expires automatically after 30 days.

Sharing your information

We share information only where it is needed to run the store: with our payment processor to process payment, with Mojang's public API if you use the skin viewer, and where required by law, such as in response to a valid legal request. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers, and the site does not load fonts, analytics or ads from third-party services.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets no advertising cookies and no third party cookies. It sets two cookies of its own, so we can count visitors and visits without a third party analytics service. One identifies the browser for up to a year, the other identifies the current visit and expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. Neither carries your name, your email or anything you typed. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, this site stops sending usage events. Actions the server carries out itself, such as placing an order, trying a discount code or arriving through a referral link, are still recorded, because they are part of running the shop.

Your browser's local storage is used for three things, all of them on your device and none of them sent to us on their own: the capes in your basket, the currency you chose to view prices in, and a referral code for up to 30 days if you followed a shared link to reach the site. Clearing your browser storage removes all of this.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Minecraft is popular with younger players, so if you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about an order, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to what we are required to keep for accounting and fraud prevention. Contact us using the details below to make a request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the store changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
